Tacos El Gordo wasn't born in a restaurant — it was born around a kitchen table, where recipes were passed down like heirlooms and every meal was an event. Our founder grew up watching their abuela grind corn, slow-braise meats, and chase down the perfect salsa with nothing but instinct and love.
When they arrived in Memphis, one thing was clear: this city deserved that same flavor. Not the watered-down version. Not the compromise. The real deal — handmade tortillas pressed that morning, meats marinated overnight, and salsas made from scratch with chiles that actually have a story.
Today, every taco that leaves our kitchen carries that same spirit. We're proud to put Memphis on the map for authentic Mexican food — one tortilla at a time.
